A COURSE IN MIRACLES For the 12-Step Program
Are you working the 12-step program? Are you struggling with addiction and don't know where to turn for help? Is a loved one struggling with addiction and you don't know how to cope?
The 12-step program is a set of guiding principles (recognized by some participants as ‘spiritual principles’) outlining a course of action for recovery from addiction or compulsion. The 12-step program is at the heart of recovery programs offered through Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Gamblers Anonymous and Overeaters Anonymous.
A Course in Miracles (ACIM) is described by students and teachers as a course in personal and spiritual transformation. Thousands of people struggling with addiction around the world have discovered ACIM and found it to be a meaningful and everlasting extension to their 12-step program.
PURPOSE AND INTENT:
These gatherings are intended to be a safe and nurturing place to support your journey through addiction, or to learn about your loved-one journey with addiction. Gatherings will invite participants to extend one's exploration of the 12-step program through the teachings of ACIM.
APPROACH AND METHODOLOGY:
To fulfill the intention of the group, without adding unnecessary structure to the gatherings, the following general approach is invited for each gathering:
Opening reading: Your facilitator will open each gathering with a reading related to personal and spiritual growth and development. This opening reading may, or may not, relate directly to addiction and recovery.
Check-in: Attendees will be invited to share where they are in their healing journey and/or share if there are any significant issues they are dealing with at this time.
ACIM reading: Based on the check-in, your facilitator will select and read a passage from ACIM.
Discussion and sharing: Attendees will be invited to continue their discussion and sharing through reflection on the ACIM teachings, as the teachings may relate to their healing journey.
Please RSVP your interest in participating in this group by emailing Robert or calling/texting him at 613-204-0299. When there is sufficient interest to begin meetings, you will be contacted.
These gatherings are offered and facilitated from the heart. We gratefully accept your in-kind donation or free will offering for participation in the gatherings.
